About

Nerd from the get-go

As the daughter of a computer scientist I grew up around computers. I used to know how to count in binary (nerds unite!), draw pictures using Basic code, and I remember using the first Apple computer that came on the market - it didn't even have a hard drive.

Learnin'

Though I attended both JMU (majoring in Art) and SCAD (majoring in Computer Graphics) most of my web knowledge is self taught. In the last decade (plus) I've honed, refined, and expanded my knowledge to make me into the designer that I am now. I currently work full-time at Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia as the Senior Designer.

Souped-up brain, dual exhaust

I love web design because it uses both sides of my brains: the right side - the artistic side - to create beautiful designs, and the left side - the logical side - to create the structure and write the code. I care about clean, quality code, and classic, aesthetically-pleasing, utilitarian designs.

I'll call her... my Other Me

My twin sister also does some web design and lives in Colorado. Her speciality is creating databases and eCommerce sites and we often collaborate on projects. Being twins means that she can tell what I'm thinking so we save on phone bills that way. No, not really. She is currently studying Java and C++.

A Fresh of Breath Air

I live out in the Virginia country-side with my husband, three horses, two dogs, and two cats. As often as I can I play with my horses. For the past five years I've been using natural horsemanship principles and techniques and LOVE IT!

Horn Blowin'

I have won some awards.

The Future Maybe

I think somewhere off in the distant future my life may include teaching - maybe computers, design, horses; photography, writing, or all of the above.
